Description

Medium wide-field view of a region of the constellation Camelopardalis, containing reflection nebulae vdB 14 & vdb 15, a section of the large emission nebula Sh2-202, and the open star cluster Stock 23 (upper right corner).  vb15 is illuminated by the supergiant variable star HD 21389 (also designated CE Camelopardalis). Since 1943, the spectrum of CE Cam has served as one of the stable anchor points by which other stars are classified. The star is some 19 times as massive as the Sun and 55,000 times as luminous.
